Ben
I met Ben when I was eight years old. My grandpa drove into the driveway one day with a horse in the back of his truck - a horse for me! Ben was a buckskin gelding that spent the next year bucking me off almost every day. He was stubborn, but I was even more stubborn! I kept getting back up onto his round, golden back, clutching his jet black mane and hanging on with all my strength - and I finally learned to ride him.
Comanche
I met Comanche when I was eight years old too, when a mare in our neighborhood, named Apache, had a beautiful bay and white spotted filly. I fell in love with Comanche at first sight, but I knew she'd never be mine. How could anyone sell such a perfect filly? But ... eight years later, they did! I used all my savings and borrowed the rest from my mom and dad to buy her. Comanche and I spent 18 wonderful years together and she still comes to visit in my dreams.
Ali
I met Ali when I was an adult and he was four months old. What a fun guy he was! Tons of energy! I loved the time I spent with him. We had many adventures and travelled all over B.C. together.
Orion and Wiley Coyote
Orion and Wiley look just like Black Beauty and Ginger in the book, Black Beauty. Orion is our mischievous one. Her favourite trick is to climb inside the water trough and splash herself when she gets too hot. Wiley is our loveable, steady guy - and he's Ali and Comanche's grandson!
