Question of the Month Archive: October 2006
October's Question:
What part of the world do you think would make a great setting for a book?
Some Answers To October's Question:
Marissa from the USA:
"Colorado because it's such a beautiful place and lots of horse owning
people live there."
Samantha from the USA:
"I think it should be Germany or Russia. Germany cause I heard it's
real nice, and could be sorta spooky if someone goes into the Black
Forest. Russia because not many books have settings in Russia. If it is
in Russia I think it should be located in the Crimea near the Black
Sea. It was the favorite holiday spot of the last Royal family. The
Crimea has a mediterranean climate and they had a beautiful palace
overlooking the Black sea. I think the Crimea would be a beautiful
setting."
Shelby from the USA:
"I think in Canada, it is so nice up there."
Genevieve from the USA:
"I think that maybe the Arctic would be really cool, because it's VERY remote, (most of it) and your main character could be a native of that region."
Stephenie from the USA:
"I think, for a desert type book, the desert parts of Africa."
Caroline from USA:
"I think Germany because it is beautiful!"
Alicia from Canada:
"Canada would make a perfect setting. I live in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and it is a wonderful place."
Nicole from the USA:
"I think New Mexico, California, or Paradise island in the Bahamas would make good places."
Heather from the USA:
"I think Naples, Italy would be great!! It's not a perfect place, but I use to ride in a stable in Naples! It was SOOOOO much FUN!"
Brittany from the USA:
"I agree with Kara, Michigan would be a great place for the setting of
a book. The summers are always nice, and in the fall the trees are so
pretty in the Upper Peninsula."
Emily from the USA:
"In Montana on a western ranch"
Mari from Norway:
"I think up in the north, like Norway for example or Sweden maybe. If
Norway, because the mountains, the rivers, the trees, the best place
in the world is in Norway. It's always something great about the
weather, even if it rains in the middle of the summer!!"
Cara from Germany:
"I think that Iceland would make a good setting for a book, because
Iceland has such beautiful nature with its geysers and the rough
stones of the volcanos."
Stephanie from Canada:
"I think Japan in the spring time would be nice because then the
cherry bloosoms would be in bloom and would be floating in the wind."
Kirsten from the U.S.A.:
"For some reason, I don't why, but I've always thought that the Rocky
Mountains or the foothills would be a good setting for a story. I
just think that mountain or foothill settings are so beautiful so
when people write about them I enjoy the story more. Not that I don't
like other settings, but mountains and foothills are my absolute
favorites! ;)"
Kara from the U.S.A.:
"I think Michigan (in the USA) would be a great setting for a book! It may be a bit chilly at times, but the summers are nice and warm. There are a lot of trees which make a beautiful sceanery, especially in the fall. When ever my friends from out of state come over they rave about how beautiful all the trees are. Especialy the ones that their branches hang over the road on both sides. It makes sort of a tunnel of leaves. It's awesome!"
Alison from the U.S.A.:
"Finca, Puerto Rico would be a great place for a book setting. It is very farmy, grassy land."
Kourtney from the U.S.A.:
"I think that the Grand Canyon would be a good setting for a book. Alaska would be very cool too. :) :)"
Keanna in Canada:
"I think that a small island in the middle of the ocean would be cool. It would be even cooler if it was undiscovered with wild horses. :)"
