April 2008 Question:

If you could make your own breed of horse, what characteristics would it have?

Some Answers to the April 2008 Question:

Cheyenne in The United States:
"It would be tough like a mustang, but smart like a lippazaner. They could out run any other breed. And the studs and geldings would be diffrent colors than the mares and fillys. The studs and geldings would be the darker colors and the mares and fillys the lighter colors. They would live in any type of climate. I would call them the Cheytales horse. And they would be the best kids horses on earth!"

Emma in Canada:
"My breed's characteristics would be that they were smaller but strong ponies who were known for their gentle temperaments, but they would also be really smart and be all black, gray, or chestnut because those are my favourite colours. And they would love eating some sort of strange food, like fettuccine."

Jessica in Canada:
"I love fantasy so my horse would have something to do with that. He would be a beautiful 16 hh stallion. Long mane and tail. Deep rich chestnut color. His markings would be strange though. Rich royal blue crescent that covered his nose. Rings around the top of all four legs. He would be slim and elegant. Like an Arabian."

Brittany in The United States:
"I'm really into fantasy sooo... yeah this may sound weird. My horse would be a brilliant stallion who would change color by his mood. For example, if he was depressed or angry he would turn gray or black. Or if he felt happy and carefree, white. He would also be able to fly under the moonlight with me upon his back, and he would take me to see my horses that I lost, or horses that I cared for very much(Barbaro for instance). That is my dream breed.:D"

Mirriam in The United States:
"Mine would be gentle, but protective, able to keep me safe, spirited, dapple gray, gray, cream, silver dapple, or black or palimino. Sure footed, great jumper, dressage horse, and pleasure horse. Not a cow, but fiery and beautiful, but keeps her or his fieriness under control. I wish I really had this horse, I don't even own a real one! :("

Annie in The United States:
"I would want my horse to be Graceful, able to handle all weather conditions very well. Umm... Could run long distances and would be very agile. Arabian/tb like build. Basically a good all-around horse that would be better than a quarter horse. It would basically be like every major breed (i.e. Arab, tb, qh, morgan, etc.). It would have a lot more characteristics than this but there are too many to list."

Tessa in The United States:
"My new breed would come in white, gray, and black. They would be very fast and spirited, but loyal and calm. They would be known for their speed and jumping ability."

Erin in The United States:
"If I could create my own horse breed it would be beautiful, with a flowing mane and high set tail, all colors, attitude... I guess a little high strung and headstrong but friendly, kind of like me. That would be a great horse!"

Samantha in The United States:
"Hmm... well, my horse would be kind, graceful, fun and attention loving, loves people and other animals including my dog who's sort of an attention hog for me. A beautiful, elegant, hyper horse who loves going for rides in the woods and an array of different things!"

Stephenie in The United States:
"The horse breed I would create would have to be wild but tame. It would be beautiful and graceful, and come in all colors and coat patterns. The horse breed would have a special talent for dressage, because of it's grace."

Rachel in The United States:
"I would create a moonlight horse, with a glimmering mane, a misty veil to a shining coat. Kind and gentle with a good head, but spirited. They would live in woodlands and on heathery hills away from cities and loud places. They would have either black or blue soulful eyes. I would call them the Flewnor, and they'd be the most loyal friend a human could have."

Katelyn in The United States:
"I would want my horse to be calm, friendly, a good jumper, not too skittish, and with no bad habits. I also would want my horse breed to be very easy to ride, but not just for beginners!"

Stephanie in The United States:
"If I could make my own breed, there would be many many characteristics! The breed would be well know for it's beauty and grace, spirit and calmness, it would be sturdy and trusting, loyal and sure-footed, and it would be an overall perfect horse breed! (kind of a walking contradiction... it's got lots of spirit, and yet its calm...ha ha)"
