Help Please!!!

Kine, from Norway, just sent me a email asking for advice. She doesn’t have a horse of her own, but had access to a pony and a horse before. Now she can’t ride her favourite, Dolly, because she’s grown too big to ride her. And the owner of the horse is now selling him. To make things even worse, Kine doesn’t have any friends who like horses. Understandably, she is having a hard time living without horses!

Do you have any ideas of what she can do to find another horse or pony to ride?

Look around in your area at the local stables or friends of your parents’ or friends of your friends’ or friends’ parents. Also if you guys have a 4 - H over there sign in with the horse project. 4 - H is a lot of fun. And go to the local vets to because sometimes they will have some cases where people need someone to ride thier horses for them.

You could put up fliers…um, :D   If you have like a live journal or anything, you could post an ad up there. You could search newspapers, ask people who own horses….google near you people that need horses taken care of… I sure hope you find another horse, Kine! I truly sympathize!

Are there any stables nearby? If there were she could have some fun with lessons or something. I hope she finds somewhere!

So do I. Go, Kine! Uh, that wouldn’t be the Kine from the Pony mags, would it?

    ?

I am really sorry for your trouble! My first thing would be to tell my mom, because she talks ten miles a minute, and in a few days everyone would know I needed a horse!

I’m in some trouble of my own. My friend Megan wants to give me her horse! I think I know where I can keep her. My Uncle Tim, who owns like eight horses, told me it’s going to cost me around $150 annually for vaccinations, $20 a month for grain, and $50-$60 for shoeing. My horse is barefoot so she won’t need shoes and right now she’s only eating roughage. I don’t have a job so I need to come up with $150 fast! Any ideas, anyone?

That is a tough one, Gabrielle. Is there some work you can do? If you live in an urban area, maybe you can mow lawns or walk dogs or something like that? Or in an urban area, ask your neighbours if there is any work they need to have done? I know I’d have work here (weeding) if someone came to my door.

Where are you going to keep the horse? If it is at a stable where you’re boarding her or something, you could try and work something out with the owner of the stable where they pay for some of the stuff and you help out at the stable.

If that doesn’t work, I agree with Angela…maybe (although your age and where you live might affect this) you could get a job at a store, or maybe babysit or something.

In August I’m going to a farm about a mile away to see if they want free help with the retired horses they have there! Pray that it turns out! :D

  10. Angela Dorsey Says:

That’s wonderful, Mirriam. What a nice thing to do!

  11. Gabrielle Says:

Good luck with the farm, Mirriam. I wish there was a farm closer to my house.

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

And also, if you like all kinds of animals, (I know I do!) you might try starting a dog walking business. Or maybe you’d rather bathe people’s pets? You would make good money either way, plus you might enjoy it. (If you’re from the U.S. you have to be 14 or 15 to get certain jobs, and then you can only work for a certain number of hours per week, and if your 14 it’s not legal to work during school hours. But it doesn’t matter your age if you’re just mowing lawns or walking dogs.)

I’m writing this in Norwegian, since Kine is from Norway like me

Bruk internett, eller skriv annonser i lokalaviser at du er paa utkikk etter en hest/ponni å ri. Er det noen lokale staller i naerheten kan du jo hoere med dem. Det gjorde jeg i fjor sommer. lykke til. :)

And I found this cool video on youtube, these girls and horses should immediately be placed in a circus!

    Thanks Angela! :)

I got the newest Horse Angel book yesterday, but I haven’t had time to read it yet. I’m so excited. I am sure it is perfect, like all of your books! :D

I really hope you like it! And thanks for your very kind words!!!

  17. Kine Says:

Thanx for the help guys. I have not found a horse yet, but I hope that I will soon. I will not give up that easy ;)
