About the Author
I've always loved horses. I just know they are the most beautiful creatures in the world. Up until last year, I owned two horses: Orion, a beautiful black Morgan cross mare with a white star on her forehead, and Wiley Coyote, a loveable chestnut Anglo-Arab gelding. Both Orion and Wiley have gone on to new homes now, so I am completely horseless for the first time since I was eight years old! It is for the best though: I'm just too busy writing about horses to properly take care of one! To see pictures of some of my past horses, go to my Scrapbook! I'm married and live with my husband on Vancouver Island in B.C., Canada. I am fortunate enough to have four wonderful children, two great in-law kids, and three awesome, very fun granddaughters. Almost everyday I work on my stories, usually even while traveling. So far, I've written more than twenty adventure novels with supernatural elements about girls and horses, one scary book about a girl and her cat, and one non-fiction picture book about a rare breed of pony, the Lac La Croix Indian Pony. For adults, I've published poems, short stories, and magazine articles. However, most important of all, I have tons of exciting ideas for new books, stories, poems, and articles. I just need to find the time to write them all! Favourite Things! My favourite horse of all time and best friend for almost twenty years was named Comanche. I based the character, Keeta, in A Horse Called Freedom on my Comanche so everyone who read the book would know how wonderful she was. My favourite book as a kid was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. I cried and cried at the end. My favourite food ... oh my, I don't think I can pick just one. Can I give my top ten? My favourite horse movie of all time is Pharlap. My favourite band is Cole Grifter. They have a new video out that's very good. My favourite singer is Molly Johnson, a jazz singer. She's great! My favourite hobby is ... guess! Spending time with horses! I also like hiking with my husband, and going to the beach. And I still absolutely love exploring. It's so fun to go new places and see things I've never seen before. When I can't explore in person, I explore through a good book! Interview at Pony USA
